Sonogno is a typical Ticino village with a beautifully preserved centre is also the last village in the Verzasca Valley, a little paradise to explore on foot or by bike. Near Sonogno there is a beautiful waterfall, the Cascata della Froda, which can be reached after a short walk. The Valle Verzasca is a rural and largely untouched valley with steep inclines and numerous waterfalls. The emerald-hued Verzasca River flows over bizarrely- formed, smoothly-polished rock through the narrow valley, forming several natural rock pools and places to bathe. The river is also popular with canoeists and divers but is regarded as difficult and in many places dangerous to navigate.
